Don't know how fast I'll be putting up pages. We'll find out!
There's three ways to talk about how old someone is.
One is to use a standard unit of time. Unity uses the their capital homeworld's orbital length (around 500 days).
But some races live a lot longer than others. Someone 10 Unity years old might be a full adult of their species, or barely a child.
That's why the Star Federation uses "centigens". A generation is defined as the average age of the mothers having a firstborn. So, for a modern human, probably around 20 years.
A centigen is generally 1% of that. So for a human, 50 centigens would be about 10 years old. However, it can be tweaked by a species so that the target ages are met at the right time. IE, you can't get a light spacecraft learner permit until you're 75 centigens. Some species may tweak how fast you age so as to allow for that to be older or younger than the norm.
The third way is used when talking about species with unusual lifecycles, such as a plant species which has its young before it learns to talk or such.
Hmmm, I wonder if Poison Monkey's actually exibit any more simian characteristics than "normal" humans do? Such as having a tail? I just looked, and did not see anything that proves Iri does not have one. Or, perhaps hand-like feet. The one shot that shows feet is distorted beyond all recognition.
Still though, I could have totally pictured Iri chain smoking with all 4 limbs. Or even better a Different vice in each hand. A cigaret, a drink, a porno mag, and a vibrator. Lol. Ah well, its all good. Maybe some other alien race can have that kind of fun :P
Mind you, I actually hate smoking, but I am betting what with all the radiation on Iri's homeworld, she is in no particular danger of getting cancer from the cigs due to some sort of awsome immune system? Otherwise her race would be just a mess of mutated freaks. Of course, maybe they are :P
Hmmm, I was never much of a dragon ball fan. But Didn't goku have normal feet, and no tail as well? (I think he had a tail when he was younger but lost it for some reason?)
Bah, you've already won anyway, View said she has normal feet. Leave my my dreams :P I have read many sci-fi books where some class of meta-humans had that distinguishing feature and always found it a cool idea.
I'm curious as to how all these different species are able to understand each other. Do we have translator-like devices that are a part of everyone? I'd assume that learning another species' language would be nigh-impossible because they wouldn't share the same speaking mechanisms. Or is it just f***ing magic?
Besides, the way English is making it's way in trade around the world, it wouldn't be all that weird to see it as "basic" language once we hit deep space.
perspective, but wouldn't she be able to squeeze by those bars with a little lube? They just seem far apart enough for it to happen (fail english is fail) XD
That reminds me of the old Sci-Fi short story about the fellow who was sent back in time to capture a unicorn. When he arrived he couldn't breath because there wasn't enough carbon dioxide in the atmosphere!
