Most of them are properly different species and can't interbreed in a fertile manner. But they all descend from the same basic line, so the mechanics are the same.
I like it without any top myself, as I find her... uh... hair(?) balances it out. What should I call those things on her head anyway? Tendrils, ears, floppy protrusions, fins?
Firstly, in concordance with the masses here: the pantaloons are lovely, as is the waistband at the top- makes it look sorta like those belly dancer outfits, but in a non-erotic sense, if that makes any sense. Also, Ayata figuring out technology is cute. :3
Secondly, are the circles under DK's eyes makeup, or are they tattoos, or are they natural pigmentation? They don't darken at all when he blushes, like I thought they might, and those are the only reasons I could think of for why they don't.
Thirdly, reading through NMtG is so heartwrenching. ;_; But I had to. It is just too awesome not to! I'm hooked on your story and believable characters, View. *shakes fist at fondly*
Lastly, zomg that was quick! @_@; And holy crap this is awesome! *attaches it immediately as his avatar* Thanks View! I assume the idea gave you a chuckle too? :D
Eh, lazy at times, experimenting at times. You need a way to colour that's quick, efficient and effective and so you're playing around with various methods. Completely understandable. The fact that you can churn out quality art and story from concept to full colour page is in itself amazing. I wouldn't put this into the catagory of laziness though, since pigmentation spots similar to what you have for the PMs typically don't react like the surrounding flesh, in most species here on earth; Heck, even us humans- Look at someone who has a scar on their cheek blush, and you'll see the scar doesn't change colour, or at least only changes fractionally due to a number of factors. I'd assume it's a similar factor involved here.
Also, I know I've come across rather critical of your work in prior comments, but seriously man, awesome work. I wouldn't be here loving every page of it and trying to see if I can work out little things like that if I didn't enjoy your work. I just am bad at saying it I guess. :P Again, thank you for your awesome work, View.
Well if it's not too ancient yet, last page of NMtG I've posted two comments for ya the other day (if you ctrl+f 'kain' you'll find em). Still think you're a cheeky bastard regarding the story, by the by :P
I believe View mentioned they're tattoos, and her people like to adorn their comb in many difefrent patterns, in Ayata's case, it's just a "go faster stripe" that's on sideways !
It's a Warhammer 40K joke. Ask one of the Boyz why all the vehicles are painted red by the Speed Freeks or Mekboyz and he'll answer, "'da red wunz go fasta!".
You know, for someone who's supposed to be a beefcake, DK looks awfully cute in that fourth panel, what with his fading blush and pronounced oddly eyelashes.
If ever you need to do another filler page, can I request it be of a super bashful DK, styled to be uncharacteristically cute?
Well, if you're taking requests - Make a wallpaper where you take your time to do things right instead of speed drawing - y'know .. stretch your artistic muscles a bit, and see what comes out of it ?
Could make one of those digigrade slabhead soldiers from back in your flashback jump trough a big window ... that should be a challenge.
Ah, the essense was for you to stretch your artistic muscles, not so much for any particular scene to be drawn.
You have hinted at being good at facial shading before and such, but I don't think you have ever shown us what you really can - And that's sad .. and I think it might even be holding you back somewhat that you don't go nuts every now and then. Sit down, concentrate on quality and ignore the time it takes, then turn it into a wallpaper and show it off to people .. us included, pretty please. :)
"I doubt I'll need one, but I'll keep it in mind." *Cough* Knock on Wood!
I would also love to see you take some stabs at wallpapers. As I agree with Sheela that it could be a great chance to try out some more time intensive techniques. You could do another one like the pin-up, and instead of spending 2 hours on 5 panels and 10 character, spend it all on a single great character drawing. Or try your hand at a really detailed background, or funky textures and particles. Like Sheela said, WHAT you decide to draw does not matter as much as the fact that you use the chance to try something you would not otherwise bother with either due to time constraints, or clashing styles, or whatever. Plus, since it is not in anyway integral to the comics flow, you could take as many days, weeks, or months as you need to do it. You would not have to just sit down and kick it out in a single afternoon.
